Twilight time...that magical experience between daylight and darkness. Astronomers, the experts on nighttime, recognize 3 distinct twilights:
1. Civil--enough light to see, but people turn on their lights to drive a car, and the streetlights start to come on.
2. Nautical--begins when it's fairly dark, and the clear line of a sea horizon becomes invisible
3. Astronomical--all traces of sky glow disappear, and stars are visible.
Twilight is my favorite part of my day...I often paint outside until nautical twilight prevents it!
